#LaptopCutieLegit! 105 MSU-GSC CoL Students Receive Laptops from University

One hundred five (105) student-beneficiaries of the Mindanao State University (MSU) College of Law - GenSan campus received their Dell laptops today, December 29, 2021 at the MSU-CETD covered court.

Said laptop recipients include four first year law students (1L), 33 second years, 33 third years, 29 fourth years, and six fifth years.

Student-beneficiaries were chosen based on the responses from the surveys conducted prior to the distribution, along with other criteria such as academic standing/performance in the previous semesters, compliance with maximum residency requirement, and membership in any of the three student organizations.

Cielone Jasper Nequinto, a fourth year law student, expressed his gratitude to the university as it would optimize learning in the new normal setup.

“I  mostly use my smartphone for online classes because it is more powerful than my laggy 7-year old laptop. Thanks for the laptops provided by this program, I can finally utilize a bigger screen, keyboard and mouse, and more varied functions a phone can’t provide. This will also train us for the new era of [the] Bar exam which uses laptops instead of pens and booklets,” Nequinto said.

Sabrina Gayo, CLSA President of MSU-GenSan College of Law, who spearheaded the distribution, also expressed her gratitude to the University President and the Modernization team of MSU system for this timely blessing.

“I join the entire studentry of the General Santos City Extension Campus in thanking the University administration headed by President Habib W. Macaayong and the entire ICT Modernization Team of MSU. Thank you so much Dean Annabelle B. Cañazares-Mindalano for all the support ultimately leading to today's laptop distribution spearheaded by the CLSA. To the student-beneficiaries, may this timely gift inspire you all to respond by striving harder and becoming resilient in this time of pandemic especially in aiming for better academic performances,” conveyed Gayo.

Krizza Mae Keaje Barabat, second year law student, shared that the laptop provision encouraged her to do even better in law school.

"I didn't expect I would be one of the beneficiaries of the laptops. I also did not expect that the laptop specs would be this good, corei5. Thank you so much to the university officials behind this program. This would serve as my additional motivation to study even harder so the generosity of the university would be worth it," Barabat shared.

Krizza Nadine Calmerin, one of the four first year law student-recipients, expressed her enthusiasm to do even better as a law student, and that being one of the recipients is a privilege that should be valued.

"It is an overwhelming feeling to be one of the beneficiaries. It's a long journey ahead and it is no lie that laptops are a great need, especially for completing tasks and keeping up with academic demands. To be entrusted with one is like a motivation to do better, to study more, because I'm fortunate to be given this privilege. It's like a pat on the shoulder," Calmerin stated.

The said distribution of laptops is part of the ICTC Modernization of the University in its effort to provide better online learning experience for the students.
