Miting de Avance heats up CLSA election season 2022
This academic year’s CLSA Election hosts two slates, namely the ‘T.A.R.A Party’ and ‘The Round Table Party’, vying for the 10 positions in the College’s student government offices.
“Take it to the polls!”
To facilitate a discussion of the election parties’ platforms, formal introduction of each party’s official candidates, and aid the student body’s decision making as regards who to support and vote for the College of Law Students’ Association (CLSA) Election today, the Mindanao State University-GenSan College of Law Commission on Elections (COMELEC) conducted the second virtual Miting de Avance (MDA) via Zoom yesterday, October 1, 2022.
This academic year’s CLSA Election hosts two slates, namely the ‘T.A.R.A Party’ and ‘The Round Table Party’, vying for the 10 positions in the College’s student government offices.
‘T.A.R.A. Party’ bannering the tenets of ‘Transparency, Accountability, Responsibility, and Action’ kick started with a presentation of the party’s platforms and the individual candidate’s introduction, which consisted of each candidate’s enumeration of accomplishments and action plans relevant to their aspired position.
On the other hand, ‘The Round Table Party’ echoing the virtues of ‘Integrity, Service, and Equality’ also started with a presentation of their party’s official candidates where they laid down
T.A.R.A Party prides itself with being the three-year leading party in the annual CLSA elections.
“The trust and confidence of the studentry to this party is demonstrated by the three (3) fruitful years that TARA Party has led MSU College of Law General Santos City Extension. We have initiated, developed, innovated and implemented several projects despite the effects of the pandemic. We were able to come up with solutions and alternatives for a faster, smoother, better and harmonious student-admin connection,” Presidential Candidate Rosarie Bering said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, ‘The Round Table Party’ seeks for “change” in the CLSA leadership as they banner transparency, trust, service, fairness, and equality.
“The Round Table Party promotes: INTEGRITY. We stand for transparency and trust. SERVICE. We serve as we lead, we lead as we serve. EQUALITY. We aim for fair and equal representation of everyone in the student body. We will work hand-in-hand closely with the College of Law Administration to provide significant services to the student constituency and the concerns raised during the Miting de Avance have all been duly noted to be incorporated with the party's plans and platforms,” ‘The Round Table Party’ stated.
The MDA was conducted in two parts—presentation of Candidates and their platforms where each party was given 15 minutes, and the Question and Answer session where the official candidates for each position in the CLSA were given a minute and a half to answer questions submitted by the students via a Google Form prior to the conduct of said MDA.
The virtual Miting de Avance started to heat up as each official candidate answered the solicited questions relevant to leadership, transparency, accountability, integrity, program implementation, finance management, among others.
Will “Transparency, Accountability, Responsibility and Action” prevail over “Integrity, Service, and Equality”? Today, the student body will decide.
